Medical Assistant (MA)


Job Summary

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provide care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner.  Maintains regulatory agency requirements as well as follows all agency policies, procedures and standards.  Answers phone calls incoming to the clinic by patients and sends each provider messages about patient’s needs or concerns.  Returns calls to patients with the answer to concerns/questions/request per direction for providers.  Communicates with providers and team members about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.  Must be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment and able to perform general medical assistant duties with adequate supervision.  Provides safe, courteous and competent patient care.  This position is also responsible for covering front desk areas including patient check in, collection of fees and patient check out process when needed.

As the Medical Assistant you will:

  • Interview patients for case histories prior to appointments

  • Update and maintain patients’ health records

  • Schedule and coordinate appointments

  • Use medical software to support all transactions

  • Answer patients’ questions and ensure quality customer service

  • Collaborate with doctors and nurses to help with medical examinations, schedule tests and order supplies

  • Ensure compliance with procedures

  • All locations have positions open. 

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

  • Proven work experience as a Medical assistant

  • Hands on experience with medical software and MS Office

  • Knowledge of healthcare operations

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

  • Customer-oriented communication skills

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

  • High school diploma
